Rodeos Birmingham

A Slice of Nashville in the Heart of the UK

If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping straight into a Nashville honky-tonk without the long-haul flight, Rodeos Birmingham is your new happy place. The second location in the growing Rodeo’s family (following Wolverhampton’s lead), this newly opened bar is a pure celebration of country music, community, and Southern-style hospitality—and it’s quite simply one of the most joy-filled places I’ve ever stepped foot in.

From the moment you walk through the doors, Rodeo’s Birmingham hits you with an energy that’s hard to put into words. Think: neon lights, stunning murals, and décor lifted straight from Lower Broadway for that authentic Tennessee touch. There’s not a corner untouched by detail—from the replica signs of your Nashville favourites like Whiskey Row and Honky Tonk Central that recreate the feel of walking along Broadway, right down to the penny coins lining the bar underneath a glass top and an authentic beer can wall behind the bar; features that took Rodeo’s owner – Simon – four days to achieve; that’s just how passionate he is about getting even the smallest of details right to make that massive impact.. Every element feels intentional, thoughtful, and downright magical. Honestly, the attention to detail is nothing short of superb.

Every square in of Rodeos is so vibrant and full of life, and just bursting at the seams with character; from walls that tell their own stories with stunning murals of Lower Broadway that transport you straight to Music City, while bold tributes to country icons like Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, and Chris Stapleton set the tone for the kind of night you’ll never want to end. And if you’re after that perfect spot for “the ‘gram,” the signature Rodeos pick-up truck parked right up on stage has you covered – I dare you to leave this bar without posing for a pic there – it’s impossible! We sure didn’t!

But what really sets Rodeos Birmingham apart? The people; hands down! The sense of family in this place is something special. Simon (The Sheriff) isn’t just running a bar—he’s creating a community. His love for country music and his guests is evident in everything he does. He’s just the kindest bloke you could ever meet; warm, genuinely welcoming, and the kind of guy who’ll stop what he’s doing to make sure you’re having the best time possible. That same spirit runs through the entire team. Despite being a newly formed crew, every staff member was on-point—friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Special shoutout to Amy, who looked after us all day with an energy and kindness that just made the whole experience even more memorable. Speaking of his staff and the environment they’ve created, Simon shared: “I want my staff to enjoy coming to work. If you give them the environment where they can have a good time, give them the freedom to have fun with the customers, everyone will have an even better time, and the amount of customers who’ve come to me and said ‘your staff seem so happy’ just means the world. It just elevates things even further.”

Simon elaborated: “I was sitting here during our first week here, Adam Harding was singing – great local lad – and Boot Scootin’ Boogie come on and, it’s a new bar – we’re a week open – and I’ve literally looked up and three of the new staff have run right down the middle of the restaurant onto the floor and they’ve just jumped up and done the line dance to it and that’s Rodeo’s. That’s who we are.” That really is Rodeos; I honestly can’t recommend this place enough, for any country fan especially, because that genuine heart, passion and sense of community isn’t something words alone can do justice to convey but spend a little bit of time here and you’ll absolutely feel it.

That vibe is something that’s at the heart of everything Simon does here: “I like every customer to be acknowledged as they walk through the door so they know they’ve been recognised. It’s not about us making a lot of money – that’ll come in time – but if we can give people the best time ever, we’ll be busy, and we’ve been really busy.”

And then there’s the food. Y’all. The menu at Rodeos is incredible – if the wonderful atmosphere alone doesn’t have you itching to get back, the menu will because there’s so many things we wanted to try. I’m still thinking about the chicken tenders in all honesty. Add in an Oklahoma burger that hits all the right spots, and fries that somehow stay crispy to the last bite, and you’ve got yourself a menu that matches the vibe perfectly—comforting, full of flavour, and utterly satisfying.

Of course, no honky-tonk experience would be complete without a killer playlist—and Rodeos delivers that in spades too when there isn’t a live artist hitting the stage. I spent five or six hours soaking up the atmosphere and I swear, it was banger after banger the whole time. Personal highlight? A healthy dose of Luke Bryan— which is always a win in my book. Whether you’re a country music purist or just love a good tune with a cold drink in your hand, you’re going to feel right at home here.

To sum it all up: Rodeos Birmingham isn’t just a bar—it’s an experience. It’s a love letter to Nashville, a gathering place for country fans, and a warm, welcoming escape from the ordinary. With plans for an on-site hotel and more venues already on the horizon, one thing’s clear: Simon and the team aren’t just building bars—they’re building something truly special.

If you’re anywhere near Birmingham (or even if you’re not), this is one place you need to put on your list. I genuinely didn’t want to leave—and if you go, I reckon you won’t want to either.
